Forget detention: Illlinois students might have to forfeit their Facebook passwords http://troms.me/6z9
So in order to stop cyber-bullying, the state and the schools are going to bully children into giving up their social media passwords? That doesn’t make any sense.
- Giving out your Facebook password or requiring others to give you their Facebook password violates the Facebook terms of service.
- If you’re not accessing Facebook from school computers, then they have no right to violate your privacy.
- Even if you’re a student in a public school, you have a reasonable right to privacy. The 4th and 5th Amendments still apply.
My response: Come back with a search warrant and even then I’ll assert my 5th Amendment rights.
