If you think Betsy DeVos is going to ruin your local schools and cause the complete ruin of the American education system, then maybe the federal government has too much influence. Parents and local school boards should be able to work together to provide a great educational experience for each and every child. If that means a charter school or school of choice, then local school districts should be able to offer that. My son benefits greatly from school choice.
Teachers unions, the biggest opponents of Betsy DeVos, have too much influence in the educational system. They care only about preserving their jobs and don’t have students best interests in mind when they negotiate contracts. I firmly believe that public employees should not be able to unionize.
I have no idea where this article gets its statistics about charter/choice schools. In my county the charter/choice/magnet schools are always among the best performing schools. In my state charter schools are regulated and have to meet state standards.
