About the Verizon Strike

Striking Verizon Workers

Let’s set the record straight. The “average” union member already has a compensation package worth $130,000. Verizon is offering:

  • A 6.5 percent wage increase over the term of the contract.
  • Access to quality and affordable healthcare benefits.
  • Competitive retirement benefits including a 401k with a company match.

Union members should not be jealous of Lowell McAdams salary, the should instead ask themselves, “Am I being fairly compensated for the work I perform?” As a VZW employee, I think I’m fairly compensated.

We no longer live in the days of Ma Bell. Verizon needs flexibility with its workforce and the union bosses won’t give the company the flexibility it needs to move employees around and use contract workers when appropriate. The CWA and IBEW know that union membership is shrinking and they’re doing everything they can to keep their members.
